ALL THE WAYS WE WANT
All the Ways We Want: Power and Tenderness in Contemporary Portraiture
EXHIBITION RUNS | August 23 – November 2, 2025
All the Ways We Want is an exhibition that brings together the work of Jas Petersen and Spenny Liautaud in a deeply intimate and expansive dialogue on identity, vulnerability, and the dualities of human expression through form.
Jas Petersen and Spencer Liautaud offer two distinct but interwoven approaches. Petersen’s iconic Fastgirls are emblems of portraiture where their bold, glamorous, and unapologetically feminine presence challenges how the female form is consumed, mythologized, and reclaimed. Liautaud’s process-driven abstractions, by contrast, dissolve the figure altogether, revealing portraiture as an interior frequency: a rhythm of color, texture, and gesture that connects our emotional bodies with the natural world.
Placed in dialogue, their works examine the dualities of visibility and obscurity, polish and rawness, strength and softness. Petersen’s work make odes to consumerism, transportation and social obligation embodying how identity is performed and projected outward, while Liautaud’s abstractions reflect the inner landscapes we guard or surrender. Together, they illuminate portraiture not just as representation, but as revelation.

Title of Piece: The End
Size: 16x20
Medium: 7-color hand-pulled screenprint
Price: $400.00
Description : Edition of 31. This piece plays with the illusion of finality. Danger is lurking, yet she remains firmly grounded. “The End” is stamped across the image like the last frame of a movie — but nothing here feels finished. The sky is moving. The mushrooms are growing. A poppy blooms defiantly near her foot. In Jas’s world, endings are rarely the last word. They’re thresholds. This is not a goodbye — it’s a next step in disguise. The end is the next chapter they don't tell you about.

Title of Piece: Awake between Worlds
Size: 24x36"
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Title of Piece: Dysbiosis
Size: 36x36"
Medium: Mixed media: linen, epoxy, barbed wire, molding paste, acrylic and spray paint
Price: $4,000
Description: Liautaud employs materially intensive wall work, frame intervention, and textile-based construction to investigate the fragile interplay of organic systems and bodily decay. Hand-woven, pigment-saturated linen strips intersect with dimensional epoxy forms, their chromatic repetition activating spatial tension and formal rhythm. The embedded epoxy and geometric cubes employ a mycelial network encircling the composition, once protective and invasive, suggesting containment and quiet invasion. The work evokes cycles of regeneration, stress and resilience, allowing for reflection and the intimacy of vulnerability.
