Aisha Imani Sanaa is an interdisciplinary, community-driven artist whose work celebrates resiliency, joy, wellness, and liberation. Aishaearned her BFA in Interior Design from the California College of the Arts. She has collaborated with and displayed work at several museums, galleries, centers and libraries. Her mission is to continue fostering impactful connections and experiences through art and design.
About the Piece:
“To The North!” celebrates the spirit of bravery, resiliency and foresight that our ancestors embodied while seeking liberation through the Great Migration during the Reconstruction Period. The lotuses held by the figures symbolize hope and new beginnings. The figures are adorned with graphically designed patterns of historic photographs and motifs, serving as reflections of our continued journey towards freedom.
