KYNG

$1,500.00

Title of Piece: KYNG

Artist: Karen E. Griffin

Size: 73L x 37W

Medium: Fabric

Price: $1,500

About the Artist:

Award-Winning visual, teaching and performing artist whose striking two-dimensional portraits and African-based abstractions empower viewers to embrace their unique identities. By fusing fabric with the vibrant storytelling of African American heritage, Griffin meticulously renders African prints to capture the bold energy of the diaspora.

About the Piece:

"Sew, I decided to bring KYNG to life." What started as a conversation in New Orleans in 2017 between wood and fabric has become a protest in 2025. After my services was turned away from the Federal Reserve Bank due to the dismantling of DEI initiatives, KYNG evolved. It’s more than a quilt—it’s a response to the setbacks of the Afro-American experience, proving that our art cannot be "de-installed" from the american narrative.
