Aisha Imani Sanaa is an interdisciplinary, community-driven artist whose work celebrates resiliency, joy, wellness, and liberation. Aishaearned her BFA in Interior Design from the California College of the Arts. She has collaborated with and displayed work at several museums, galleries, centers and libraries. Her mission is to continue fostering impactful connections and experiences through art and design.

About the Piece:

“Nicodemus” highlights the founding of the black township, Nicodemus, KS. It is a celebration of the ingenuity, bravery and vision the founders embodied in order to create liberation for themselves. The lotus held by the figure symbolizes hope and new beginnings. The dress worn by the silhouette features graphically designed patterns of historic photographs, fliers and maps. The collaged textiles serve not only as aesthetic elements, but as vessels of memory and resistance, inspiring viewers to reflect on their own journeys toward freedom.
