About the Piece:

Montealegre marks the beginning of my personal symbolic language, an evolving lexicon shaped by relationships and guided by larger themes of freedom and survival. Like many of my works, it exists at the intersection of beauty, mystery, and meaning. Every detail holds intention; every form invites questioning. I poured curiosity, time, and energy into this piece, and I ask the viewer to meet it with the same openness to slow down, to observe, and to discover.

About the Artist:

Francisco Gabuardy was born in Empalme de Boaco, Nicaragua, and immigrated to the United States at age eleven. He studied at the New World School of the Arts in Miami from 2005 to 2009 and later earned a BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2013 on a full scholarship. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States. He currently collaborates with his identical twin, Fredy Gabuardy, on Cadejo at the Zhou B Art Center in Kansas City, an ongoing project that explores their shared Nicaraguan identity through a visual language rooted in beauty, mystery, and meaning.
