About the Piece:
I drew the basic lines in a notebook and painted the basic lines of color, nd I felt like it just danced. The background lines are sort of like the rhythm the dancer(s?) are hearing. When I was finished, it reminded me of seeing Mondrian’s version, hence the title. And like Mondrian, I am a loving tourist here, but not the one making the music. I hope to work with some artists of color to have them create their companion piece in their own voice.
About the Artist:
After decades painting in my tic or basement, I have rented a studio at the Zhou Brothers Artspace so I can see how my art evolves with better light, more space, and a ceiling I can’t reach.
