POP IS BLACK is a live concert event and special edition of Zhou B Art Center KC’s ongoing ROCK IS BLACK concert series, dedicated to celebrating pop-influenced music by Black artists in Kansas City and beyond. This is not a tribute show, but a showcase of original music highlighting artists working across hip-pop, rap, pop, R&B, alternative pop, and genre-blending sounds that reflect the current and evolving landscape of Black musical expression.

Guests can expect a dynamic evening of high-energy live performances, immersive sound, and a vibrant atmosphere designed to center creativity, innovation, and community. A bar with drinks available for purchase will be open throughout the night.
